History

Established in 1979, Pumpaction Inc. is a Canadian company specializing in the domain of pumps, liquids handling and concreting equipment, with head offices in Pointe-Claire, Quebec. 

In its first years, under founder Pierre Gagnier, the company concentrated on the construction and commercial areas. A few years later the company diversified its operations and began offering its services to industry, municipalities as well as mines and quarries.  

In 1990, the eldest sons of Pierre Gagnier, Sylvain and Francis, took over the company as President and Vice-president respectively. Pumpaction took on a whole new energy and to the pumping equipment already offered were added new products such as pump controllers, mixers, etc. Branch offices were opened in Sainte-Foy in 1998 and Val-d'Or in 1999. The company had extended its market to the entire province.  

The business consistently reached growth and market development objectives throughout the 2000s. A board of directors was established as of 2001 in order to support the company’s strategic development. Pumpaction concentrated its development efforts on specialized applications for the mining and industrial sectors in addition to seeing to the improvement and integration of its sales, rental, maintenance and repair activities. To support this growth, during 2003 and 2004 the company undertook the expansion of its facilities and head office. It also saw to the optimization of its business processes and the implementation of more capable ERP systems to ensure its clients received fast, efficient integrated services.

Over the last few years, Pumpaction has been developing its Canadian and U.S. markets by distinguishing itself through its technical and commercial expertise, and more particularly by its ground breaking solutions for the handling of pulp and heavy sludge. It also consolidated its product offering in Eastern Canada. For its part, its American affiliate Pumpaction Corporation, created in 2005, is undergoing continued expansion. The company is positioned as an expert in the handling of thick materials and offers its clients complete, flexible and integrated services in this field.
